Looking South West we could clearly see the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth
Harting Down(s) Views. Having been on a Heartsmart Walk to here last October, under the leadership of Fiona. I decided returning was compulsory for I had to return to Beacon Hill which remained above us, just to see the views others on the walk spoke about.
A good description of this hilly 4ml walk can be found at http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/local-to-you/london-and-south-east/view-page/item560453/
Learning about the fauna and purity of the air was very enlightening. A simple guide is to be found at http://ocid.nacse.org/lichenland/html/meeting.html .
Google Earth ---path-- . Providing you have Google Earth installed you can download and open
This 4ml walk is very steep in parts especially upto as you can see in the elevation profile. The slope we took upto and down from Beacon Hill is 25° this is very steep in places. Not for the faint hearted or arthritic. The car-park is at location 50°57'22.15" N 0°51'43.10" W
Hot air balloons are lovely to see but the noise can be very startling. With owls being frightened. I wish I had been quicker with my camera.
This sculpture! we walked through on 20 October 2012
