Goodwood Halnaker HeartSmart Walk Pt2
This straight gallop is one mile, up, climbing from an elevation of only 75m(250ft) through to 150m(500ft). its EASY. Looks hard, looks longer than a mile thankfully we turned off at the mile. We were being sheltered by the trees from the bitter North Easterly winds and in an environment where the remaining snow and ice not had not yet thawed.
Seeing the deer track through the trees towards us was exciting enough, but when they turned and bounded away was an awesome site and over in a flash. One fox crossed our path and no-one stopped to look. They are now a common site everywhere. I'm sure the crisp air helped us all get our wind back very quickly. Letting our pulses return to normal at both of our breather / shoe lightening breaks.
Just by removing the mud from ones shoes removes about a Kg of mud. Yes take a break, scrape it off and you feel lighter already. Quicker than any diet. This walk upwards certainly gets the blood pumping, the heart beating in a nice quick rhythm and on a wonderful day like this you feel good, well I did.
The gentle decent downward from the car park certainly let us know we would have a climb somewhere and this was only a little surprise. After we turned off this straight track it was fairly level and exceptionally gentle under foot. Walking off-road for most of this 4 miler, all in all a walk where I will say 9/10. Well done Peter and HeartSmart for the Goodwood-Halnaker 20120213.
